REPOST FROM SACTOWN ROYALTY

#HereWeBuy Night: February 9 - Sactown Royalty

You just watched that video, right? Kevin Fippin (who produced the piece) has you ready to run through a brick wall, right?

On February 9, the Sacramento Kings will host the Utah Jazz at Sleep Train Arena. The game will be on News 10 and NBA TV. And it’s going to be loud, because we’re going to fill up the arena and scream our heads off about the Here We Buy movement. In case you missed the coverage on Monday, Here We Buyis an opportunity for fans to express interest in buying season tickets in a new Sacramento Kings arena and for businesses to pledge sponsorships at a new Sacramento arena. In less than 24 hours, more than $8 million has been pledged.

Here We Buy is a non-binding pledge, but if you sign up you are agreeing to allow Sacramento Kings staff to contact you with information on season tickets when a new Sacramento arena is constructed. The same applies to businesses — when there’s a new arena, the Kings will be given the contact info and they’ll follow up.

The point of Here We Buy Night is to help spread the word, keep up the momentum and make Gordon Hayward’s ears bleed. (Sorry, G-Hay.) Our Here We Stay Nights in the past have been exuberant affairs; I’ll never forget watching that February 28, 2011, game against the Clippers from the standing room only area, screaming my brains out and being amazed by how Sacramento had come together. Nor will I forget sharing last season’s blackout game against the Thunderwith section214, with the crowd almost willing the Kings — our Kings — to victory.

Let’s do it again on February 9. Some ticket info is available here; the Kings might be running a promo at some point, too. You also have StubHub and the Kings’ resale service. If you’d like to be a ticket angel, pipe up in the thread and perhaps you can connect with someone local who doesn’t have the means to buy a ticket but promises to scream their head off on your behalf. If you plan on going, let’s hear it. Let’s go Sacramento!

And don’t forget to pledge your support for Here We Buy.

WITNESS XVI: Special Article: My Love For The Game

witnessxvi:

7/24/2012

(I actually went to this game where the King’s season home opener vs the most hated Los Angeles Fakers. My brother’s David and John went with me, because it was a brotherly love and close thingy haha. It was quite expensive for us, but I credit carded it like the dumbass I am. It was well worth it as the Kings shitted on the Lakers! haha it was hectic leaving, a couple of fights left and right. People was yelling and talking shiet haha. I love it.)

My name is Michael Phuc Nguyen, and Iggy is a nickname made in college. Iggy is an internet alias I made from my favorite anime character Iggy from Initial D. It was from the first dub, not the newer dub where they use the real japanese names now. So not many people know that Itsuki Takeuchi was Iggy at one time. I was born and raised in Sacramento. I am Vietnamese-Southeast Asian-American. I am currently attending UC Davis at the moment. My immediate family consists of my Mom, Dad, Phong, Phong’s Wife, Phongs daughter and son, David, and John.

It all started back at the end of 8th Grade, when the last day of school was a field/carnival day. I wanted to kick it with everybody first before I kick it with the main homie at the time. By the time I was done saying wassup to everybody since it was the last day of middle school, I found my homie Kevin “Suki” Vang playing basketball. Let’s back the truck up now….I was never really a basketball player, I was always picked last in elementary school, I double dribbled to the max back in elementary, I watched my 2 older bros play basketball after school while doing my homework like a nerd. I do not know how to shoot the damn ball. Alright back to Suki, I said wassup and wanted to just watch him play like I would my bros, and Suki insisted I should join him in playing since it was just shoot around for the moment. I shot the ball so weakly and air-balled numerous times. Suki tried showing me how it was done, and I made very few shots since it was the first time I focused on molding up a jumper. Than this led to shooting for teams, and I was on Suki’s team as he was a captain. He actually chose me first cause I was his homie, which showed much loyalty. We lost the 2v2 haha but it was very fun losing even though my sports name is Iggy Nguyen I.N. for the Nguyen (Win). If it wasn’t for Suki’s insistence on me playing, and choosing me first; I felt I could trust many people in the basketball world, and that is true because I have love for playing and watching and studying and reading and anything about basketball now. Even though I am not at good terms with Suki at the moment, I still have love for the homie.

Than in high school, I asked my parents my sophomore year to build a half court in our big grassy backyard. Than it was cemented and a nice hoop was installed, and than our neighbor drew lines for the free-throw and three point lines via college. My older brother David and I painted the lines with a maroon paint for wood my dad insisted on using, because he mixed formulas in it and it has proven to last since that sophomore year of 2005-2006. My older bro and I usually just shot around every other day and than played many pick up games with relatives and friends over the summers. My greediness of the Three Pointer caught on and I am pretty decent at it. I still cannot dribble to well, but its okay because when I hear that swish, I just feel the joy and love for the game.

My heart is with the Sacramento Kings. There is no knife sharper than that of Robert Mutherfucking Horry’s Three-Pointer… I am the biggest Laker Hater fan you could ever meet. But I will give due props to Shaqs dominance and Kobes athleticism, but everybody knows 2002 throne was ours for the taking.

Basketball has changed my life, it made my lifestyle. I like to think of basketball as a way of thinking. Like how people act on the court to show dominance or comedy or what not. Its entertaining to me and I love every aspect of basketball. Basketball can help the world live on with love and prosperity. BASKETBALL NEVER STOPS.

[As of now I been to a Sacramento game against Grizzlies(Tyreke’s Half court buzzed beater in nose bleed seats for $15) , Warriors (On my 21st birthday, lower-level groupon with college friends, Marcus Thronton’s career high 42 point explosion) , Warriors (lower level, Isaiah Thomas vs Nate Robinson show down), and Lakers (lower-level, Kings domination). All Wins!] Well at least all that I could remember of because I recall my oldest brother Phong winning tickets on the radio, than my father, two older bros Phong and David, and I went to a nosebleed seating game when Mitch Richmond was playing. But I don’t remember much because it was past my bedtime and I fell asleep since I couldn’t even see that far because I didn’t know I needed glasses. I wet myself before leaving haha cause I was like in the middle of the row and didn’t want to walk out as a little 6-7 year old kid.

My love of the game has made me want to express my basketball opinions through this blog.
